MEMBERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Members must demonstrate interest in and commitment to assisting minority businesses. They should also be prepared to incorporate MBEs into their respective purchasing programs. Member corporations and organizations are expected to designate one or more individuals with responsibility for corporate purchasing as their representatives on the Council.

The following responsibilities apply to Council members:

  1. Payment of annual membership dues, via local dues payment or allocation of service points through national membership;
  2. Report dollar volume of purchases from minority suppliers of goods and services. The figures are confidential with only aggregate figured being reported by the Council to the NMSDC.
  3. Designate an official representative to attend Council meetings. (Alternates may be utilized when the official representative is unable to attend);
  4. Participate in key Council decisions by utilizing the corporate entitlement of one vote per member on matters requiring a vote;
  5. Serve on committees of the Council, and/or support and assist in other activities as requested; and
  6. Attend the Annual Meeting and participate in electing members to the Board of Directors.
